A Weekend Group Retreat with Noor Nicolai

December 1 - 3, 2006
Friday evening to Sunday afternoon

[January 22, 2007] Our retreat together is over, but the memory and unfolding continues. A few photos from the event have been added here for your enjoyment. This set of Web pages will be kept available online for those who participated, for those interested in attending future events, and for others who are just curious what this was about. The grace we shared during our short time together extends from us all to you.

You can find out more about events like these at the SOI Toronto Centres website (www.soitoronto.org).

O Thou, the Sustainer of our bodies, hearts, and souls,
Bless all that we receive in thankfulness. Amen.

Tulip, why have you opened your lips? - To tell you what I have learned in the silence.
What did you learn? - To make myself an empty cup.
     Hazrat Inayat Khan
Peace and greetings! The Sufi Order Toronto Centre of the Sufi Order International is happy to invite you to a weekend retreat for personal growth and spiritual transformation. The event will be held at the beautiful Crieff Hills Community Retreat Centre, located 60 km west of Toronto, Ontario. This retreat will emphasize the unfolding and development of inner qualities, supported by an encouraging group atmosphere. Participants will be housed on-site and maintain silence during the retreat, to aid in setting aside the distractions of daily life, and to help focus our attention on the Source of our deeper nature.

The retreat, while open to all, will be limited to 20 participants. If you are interested in attending, please let us know as soon as possible since places will be held in the order that we receive notice. The $150 fee ($165 after the October 20th early-bird date) includes a Friday evening snack and all meals up to and including Sunday lunch. This event is a fundraiser to support Sufi Order Centre activities in Toronto.

Noor Linda Nicolai is a Retreat Guide in the Sufi Order International, an interspiritual organization founded in 1910 by Hazrat Inayat Khan. She has guided personal and group retreats and taught meditation classes for many years at the Sufi Center in Buffalo, New York. Noor is also a Cherag (Minister) in the Universal Worship, which honours the unity of religious ideals; a Regional Representative and leadership mentor in the Sufi Order International; a leader of the Dances of Universal Peace; and a Healing Conductor in the Sufi Healing Order. She is a certified practitioner of the Raphaelite Work (Healing and Transformation through Breath, Touch and Presence).

About The Sufi Order International

The Sufi Order was founded by Hazrat Inayat Khan (1882-1927), continued by his son Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, and is currently led by his grandson, Pir Zia Inayat Khan. The Sufi Order International evolved from the universal spiritual tradition of the Chisti Sufi lineage. Hazrat Inayat Khan, whose teacher gave him the task to "unite East with West in the harmony of your music," communicated the fundamental metaphysics and practices of the ancient Sufis to the people of the West. Sufism has been called "the religion of the heart." It can also be understood as a path for mental and spiritual transformation through the transcendent wisdom of Love, Harmony, and Beauty, and the realization of unity in God.
